Lain was engaged in collaboration with Place Design Management and Region Group to deliver a cohesive and fully integrated mall furniture package for Pakenham Marketplace, located in Melbourne’s outer south-east corridor in Victoria. The shopping centre furniture package was delivered as part of a broader centre refurbishment encompassing food court, planter, and external cladding upgrades — with Lain’s furniture solution designed to complement and connect every element of the redevelopment.

The shopping centre furniture design was guided by the centre’s new material palette, ensuring a seamless visual connection throughout the entire space. Food court table tops and commercial waste bins were finished to precisely match the centre’s internal timber laminate linings, while a custom oak stain applied to the bin range tied directly into the new external timber grain cladding — creating a rare and considered connection between the interior and exterior retail environments.

Bench seating and mall lounge seating incorporated integrated planter pots, enhancing Pakenham Marketplace’s abundant greenery and creating a biophilic, inviting atmosphere that encourages customers to relax and dwell throughout the centre. From initial product selection and custom finish development through to delivery and placement, Lain managed the complete shopping centre furniture package for Pakenham Marketplace — delivering a design-led, fit-for-purpose result that sets a high benchmark for shopping centre furniture refurbishments across Melbourne and Victoria.
